“I thought working at a resort sounded exciting. I thoroughly enjoyed working with my coworkers. It was a very family friendly atmosphere that encouraged me to come to work every day, and even during the peak season when the mountain was heavily populated with guests, we still had the ability to maintain a friendly atmosphere. The thing that surprised me the most is how easy it is to talk to people once you get into the routine of talking and sharing information on a daily basis.
Grand County gave me the small town feel of the great outdoors, and the seasonal changes are awesome. The Bluebird Bistro at the resort serves great dishes–love the pizza!! I love skiing & snowmobiling as well as ice fishing in the winter. The summers here are filled with fly fishing, dirt biking and of course hiking the trails at the resort. As far as memories made here, there are many, but the best is meeting my now husband in Granby and calling this place home. I’ve been to most towns in Grand County and they all have fun adventures that include fishing and skiing. Loveland ski area, Winter Park and Steamboat were all fun-filled trips. The mountains are full of adventure no matter the season, and watching the seasons come and go is absolutely spectacular. The sunsets and sunrises are amazing!”

The right clothing. Be sure to ask your new manager/supervisor about dress code or recommended clothing/footwear for the job you will be doing, especially if you’re working outdoors. They can give you some great tips for layering and staying warm and dry. Be prepared for all weather conditions, as our days can start out sunny with blue skies, and be cold or rainy by lunch time.
Money. As stated above, depending on your timing, it could be three weeks before you receive your first paycheck. In some cases, you may not work your full hours until the season is in full swing. Give yourself a little wiggle room with your finances.
