Is Granby Ranch good for beginner/first timer skiers and riders?

Yes. Granby Ranch is the perfect mountain to bring beginners/first timers, as well as intermediate and advanced skiers who’d like to perfect their skills.

Where and when can I pick up rental equipment?

Children (ages 12 and under) and Adults can come straight to the Ski & Ride School room to get their rental gear. Stop by either the day before your lesson between 1:00-3:00pm, or the morning of your lesson. Please plan to get your rental gear AT LEAST 45 minutes prior to your lesson so we can ensure you start on time.

What is included in a rental package?

For juniors, our packages include skis/board, boots and helmet. Adult packages include skis, boots, and poles. Helmets may be added for an additional $10.

Is lunch included in lessons?

No. We only offer half day lessons and therefore do not include lunch. However, our Bluebird Bistro and Slopeside Café are open most days. Order on the app!

Can I do a private lesson with my family?

Yes. Up to 5 friends and family members are invited to join a half day private lesson. We strongly recommend that all participants have similar ability levels. We can make some accommodations upon request.

Where/when are group lessons?

Come straight to the Ski & Ride School room to check in at least 15 minutes prior to your lesson (at least 45 minutes if you need rentals). Then, head outside to the learning area where you will be assigned to a lesson.

What level am I?

Skiing

  • Level 1: This is your first time skiing
  • Level 2: You have skied before, you know how to stop using a wedge (snowplow, pizza, etc) but you’re still learning the basics.
  • Level 3: You can stop in a wedge, and are learning how to make turns. You are comfortable riding the lift.
  • Level 4: You are comfortable making turns on green trails

Snowboarding

  • Level 1: This is your first time snowboarding
  • Level 2: You have a basic understanding of your edges, and know how to stop. You’re ready to learn how to turn!
  • Level 3: You know how to make turns, but are still having some trouble with it. You are comfortable riding the lift.
  • Level 4: You are comfortable making turns on green trails.

If you’re not sure, that’s okay! We will make sure everyone goes to the level that fits them best based on experience, skill levels, and personal goals.

If I already purchased a lift ticket, can I add a lesson and/or rental?

If you book a group lesson package, you do not need to purchase lift tickets separately. The price of a group lesson will not change if you buy lift tickets separately. Rentals can be added to a group lesson only product for a discounted price. All sales are final.

Private lessons do NOT include lift ticket or rentals. They may be purchased separately. All sales are final.

How do I make a reservation?

You can plan your stress-free trip by purchasing tickets, lessons, and rentals at least 48 hours in advance online.

How do I change or cancel a reservation?

Is there childcare available?

We do not offer childcare.

What should I bring with me?

Be sure to check the weather before you come, but also be prepared for varying conditions. Layers, layers, and more layers.

Eye and hand protection (goggles or sunglasses, and mittens or gloves) are required for kids, recommended for adults, and not available to rent. The sun is very intense at this elevation and can be very dangerous for eyes and uncovered skin. Sunscreen is highly recommended!

Helmets are required for students aged 18 and under, and strongly recommended for everyone else. Helmets save lives!

What happens if I arrive late?

If you arrive fewer than 15 minutes after the start of your lesson, we will do our best to get you into the right class. If you arrive later than that, we might not be able to get you into your intended lesson but will work with you to reschedule to a later time or date. If you think you are going to be late, give us a call and we will try to reschedule over the phone. We do not offer refunds for missed lessons.

When should I plan to visit? Will it be busy?

We strongly advise that you plan ahead for your visit and stay tuned to our pre-arrival communications. Typically, Saturdays, the week of Christmas, President’s Day weekend and Spring Break (mid-March) are our busiest periods. If you’d like to avoid the crowds, stop by during the week or on weekends that do not fall on holidays. Closely consider the timing of your trip and please have patience with our small team.
